Illustration — not a real issued card.
Every change to a card's balance is an append-only ledger event — issued, redeemed, adjusted, expired. Nothing is ever edited in place, so any balance can be replayed from its first event. The table below is a fictional example showing how a ledger reads.
Fictional numbers illustrating the ledger format. Not real data.
| Event | Change | Balance | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Issued | +$100.00 | $100.00 | Merchant issued card |
| Redeemed | −$25.00 | $75.00 | Order #4821, partial |
| Adjusted | +$10.00 | $85.00 | Support credit, audited |
| Redeemed | −$40.00 | $45.00 | Order #5102, partial |
A $100 card spends $25 at a time until it's empty. Every redemption debits the ledger, and the remaining balance stays live on the same card — no re-issues, no leftover codes.
Set an expiry per card or per campaign. Expired balances write a ledger event, unexpired cards stay spendable, and customers see the date before they spend — no surprises.
Outstanding balances are unredeemed value you owe. The dashboard rolls up total liability across every active card, so finance always knows the number.
The gifting moment is first-class
Scheduled delivery, a personal message field, and a festive card design mean the recipient feels celebrated — while the merchant side stays all business: ledgers, liabilities, and audits.
